About our internship program

Our internship program is structured as a partnership where interns actively shape their experience. They work closely with our team to design their roles, participating in decision-making on relevant projects. 

Each role involves hands-on responsibilities tailored to the intern's interests:

Policy Research and Support Intern:

Conduct in-depth research on climate policies at the local level. Collaborate with our team to identify opportunities for impactful climate initiatives. Work directly with local policy makers and community members.

Social Media and Communications Intern

Create engaging content, implement strategies to raise awareness about climate issues, and engage with our online community.

Climate Journalism Intern

Write and tell stories about innovative municipal climate policies, capturing successes and challenges to inspire similar efforts in other communities.

  • Unfortunately, many of the innovative and ambitious climate policies being passed in municipalities around the U.S. are not being covered by the media. Run On Climate supports the work of local elected officials around the U.S. who are actively pushing — and passing — bold climate policies regularly. In order to maximize the impact of these policies, it’s critical that the story of how they passed and what they do is told. Hearing that story can help others work to pass similar policies in their own community.


    We are seeking motivated and skilled interns to join our team to write (or otherwise storytell) about exciting and cutting edge municipal climate victories and how they were achieved – and/or where they could have been stronger.

    Skilled journalist students who are motivated to have an impact on the climate crisis are highly encouraged to apply.
